  1. HOW OFTEN SHOULD AN ESCALATOR BE CLEANED?
As the most expensive, most trafficked, most dangerous and most visible flooring in any building, escalators  should be cleaned at similar intervals as the floors that lead up to and away from them

  2. IS ESCATEQ SYSTEM SAFE ON ESCALATORS?
The EscaTEQ system has been tested on most of the world’s leading escalator brands and models, through thousand of cleaning cycles without any issues, without failure, and with no damage or problem reported to date.

  3. WHY IS ESCATEQ BETTER THAN A MACHINE?
For the same reasons that a sponge hand car wash is preferred over a rotating bristle brush car wash, escalator cleaning with the EscaTEQ system is far less abrasive on the painted, polished, powder coated or plastic finishes most commonly found on escalator treads.

  4. IS ESCATEQ SAFE TO OPERATE?
Since EscaTEQ does not require a separate power source, there is no power cord to trip over, and there is little chance of electrical shock.
Absorb-TEQ has a quick release (T-Bar) safety system designed to release it from the device should any issue  occurs.

  5. IS CLEAN-TEQ SOLUTION SAFE ON ALL ESCALATORS?
Clean-TEQ has been specifically formulated to safely clean all escalator brands and models. Clean-TEQ is pH neutral, has corrosive inhibitors, traction additives and dries quickly without leaving any slippery or sticky residue when used as directed.

  6. CAN CLEAN-TEQ LEAK UNDERNEATH ESCALATOR TREADS?
Most escalators can withstand some level of moisture, whether in the form of rain (outdoor installations) or the many corrosive drinks such as coffee and sodas that are spilled on them regularly.  Clean-TEQ solution is used in such a small amount and is thinly coated onto the tread surface that it allows no leakage to occur when used as directed.

  7. WHY AREN’T ESCALATORS CLEANED MORE FREQUENTLY?
Escalators have historically been cleaned at much lower level of frequency than is required. This has primarily been due to the extremely high costs and complexities associated with purchasing, maintaining and operating the labour intensive, cumbersome, complicated and expensive machines. With EscaTEQ escalator cleaning system, it is fast, easy and cost effective.

  8. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ESCALATORS AREN’T CLEANED FREQUENTLY?Beyond poor aesthetics, lowered longevity and increased maintenance costs, safety can be compromised.  As an escalator rotates upside down, it can accumulate oil or grease from the machinery beneath, this accumulation of slippery substance on the surfaces of the treads and risers can be hazardous.

  9. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE WHEN A DRINK IS SPILLED ON AN ESCALATOR?
Because Tread-TEQ is so light, easy to transport and one person operational, the problems created by a spilled drink can be resolved in just a few minutes.  Quickly resolving a spilled drink can also avoid the long-term damage that, when left unresolved, can allow corrosive ingredients to damage the escalators finish, creating expensive refurbishment requirements.

  10. MAINTENANCE OR RESTORATIVE CLEANING?
The EscaTEQ system is designed to be used as a weekly or bi-weekly maintenance cleaning system.  The traffic, amount and type of dirt, age and condition of the escalator will best define the frequency of cleaning required.
Restorative cleaning can be done with EscaTEQ, to remove very heavy buildup that may require multiple cleaning cycles and multiple pads.  Once this restoration process is  accomplished, EscaTEQ can be used to maintain the escalators safety and aesthetics through a more frequent maintenance cleaning schedule.

  11. HOW LONG DO THE PADS LAST, AND HOW DO I KNOW WHEN TO
    REPLACE THEM?

Absorb-TEQ, our specially formulated cleaning pads can be typically used for cleaning cycles of between 3 to 8 minutes.  Absorb-TEQ pads can last for 10 and even up to 20 cleaning cycles when used for maintenance.  Restorative cleaning can wear  the pads out faster.  5 to 10 cleaning cycles are typically expected.
After every cleaning cycle, each pad should be washed, dried and can be reused until they need to be replaced.  A visual inspection of the pads can be done to determine the pad's condition.  If any teeth are missing, broken or torn or if the sponge begins to delaminate, it should be replaced.

  12. WHAT ABOUT THE RISERS?
Stains and dirt on the risers are migrated or spilled over from the surfaces of the treads.  When the treads are cleaned more frequently with EscaTEQ, dirt will not be  able to accumulate or spill over onto the risers.  For spot cleaning the risers, use Riser-TEQ™ to easily and quickly remove all stains and grease.
